Collection: Reusable Ice Packs & Ice Substitutes

Cold that does not turn into a puddle.

Every product here is made to be frozen, used, rinsed and frozen again — hundreds of times. Pick by where it has to fit and how long it has to hold.

Getting the most out of a reusable pack

  1. Freeze it solidAllow a full 24 hours. A partly frozen pack is a partly useful pack.
  2. Pre-chill whatever it goes intoA warm cooler or bag spends its first hour cooling itself instead of your food.
  3. Put cold things in coldThe pack holds temperature; it will not pull a warm drink down quickly.
  4. Close the gapsAir is what warms an insulated space. Smaller packs fill the spaces bigger ones leave.
  5. Lay the largest on topCold sinks. A mat across the top of the load does more than one underneath it.
  6. Rinse and refreezeWipe it down and put it straight back in the freezer so it is ready next time.

Common questions

How long do they stay cold?

It depends on the container, the ambient temperature and how often it is opened. In a pre-chilled, well-packed cooler our Ice Mats typically outlast the same volume of loose ice by around 30%.

How long do they take to freeze?

Allow a full 24 hours for a solid freeze.

Are they safe against food?

Yes. Every Icy Cools pack is BPA-free and non-toxic, and the outer film is made for contact with sealed food.

Can I use them with regular ice?

Yes, and it works well. The packs hold the base temperature while ice fills the gaps, with far less meltwater than ice alone.

How many times can I reuse one?

Hundreds, provided the outer film is not punctured. Replace a pack if it splits or leaks.

What if a pack gets punctured?

Dispose of it. The gel is non-toxic but the pack will no longer hold its shape or its cold.

BPA-free, non-toxic and made in the USA by Cryopak, whose cold-chain packaging is used across pharmaceutical, food and industrial shipping.
